For more than a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a well-oiled machine. The studio continues to release new content, including movies and streaming shows on Disney+. Actor Chris Evans has played Steve Rogers/Captain America for years, and with the ending of Avengers: Endgame, his Marvel journey came to a close. After a break from the MCU, Evans talked about his favorite Marvel movie role.
Although Steve Rogers finally got a happy ending, some fans still hope Chris Evans will return as Captain America in upcoming Marvel movies. Fans who have watched the Marvel movies in order know how perfectly he portrayed the character, and for the 43-year-old actor, one movie stands out. At Emerald City Comic Con, he talked about it, saying:
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier is my personal favorite among the Marvel movies I’ve been a part of. It’s not just about the movie itself, but also the filming experience. For the first movie, I was extremely nervous. You know what kind of territory you’re about to step into, so you play it safe, just trying not to make mistakes. By The Winter Soldier, we started playing to win. And it was my first movie working with the Russo brothers. We took more risks, and the character was more fully developed. It’s one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve had in making Marvel movies.”

There you have it. It seems Evans’ favorite MCU entry is his second solo movie. He made a good choice, as Captain America: The Winter Soldier is considered by fans to be one of the best Marvel movies ever made. And Evans seems to agree that it’s one of the best in the series.
The Knives Out actor’s comments help lift the veil on the real face of the MCU. Understandably, he was nervous when filming Captain America: The First Avenger, but by the sequel, he was much more confident. Additionally, the actual content of the film is gripping, including some of the best action scenes in the MCU.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier tells a story that’s closer to the real world than many other MCU movies. Because of that, the action scenes are both exciting and realistic. The movie also brings back Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, now a brainwashed super-killer. We see many beloved characters narrowly escape death in the story, including Black Widow and Nick Fury.
While Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time, it sounds like Captain America: The Winter Soldier remains Chris Evans’ personal favorite. It will be interesting to see how the series continues without him, starting with Anthony Mackie’s Captain America: Brave New World.
